La Mère Germaine Restaurant : specialities of fish and seafood at Villefranche sur mer

" Mom Germaine's " address in Villefranche was passed on from ship to ship. She became so famous that the American Navy asked a film producer to make a movie about this dearly loved and highly respected lady. Françoise Rosay was chosen to play the part of Germaine in the film. When it was time for the USS Salem to set sail,

" Mom Germaine " was officially adopted and honoured on board by the US Navy.

In 1959, E. et R. Masson Pollok wrote a book about « Mom » Germaine entitled "Mother of the Sixth Fleet" a condensed version was later published by "Reader's Digest".
